MSoP GEARS PROJECT

The Mosaic Society of Philadelphia will participate in The Ruins Project. This is an outdoor mosaics museum created by artist Rachel Sager in Whitsett, PA. This project is dedicated to the coal mining culture of Southwestern Pennsylvania on the site of the former Banning No. 2 mine. Artists from all over the world have worked on this project.

Registration is required for our members to participate in this event.

MSoP will participate in the "Gear" section of "The Ruins". All current MSoP members are eligible to participate. Registration is limited and available on a first come first serve basis. After the available slots are filled a wait list will be created.

MSoP participants will fill old gears, sprockets, or cogs with mosaic using tesserae of your choice. Rachel Sager will adhere the completed mosaic gears to a wall of the former mine, along with gears from other mosaic artists. This outdoor display will be visible to Ruins guests for eternity.

Drop off date: Feb 26, 2022 location to be announced in Philadelphia area. A follow-up email to registered participants will provide details concerning the drop off.

Rachael plans installation sometime in spring 2022.

Further instructions will be emailed to current members who register for this event.
